Should I take first responder class?
I am a high school junior, and have the option to take a course a local community college to become a certified first responder. After high school I want to enlist as either an MP or firefighter, and I do a lot of activities like skiing and 4wheeling in the backcountry, so it might be useful. Is it a hard course? Should I take it or is it a little overkill? Thanks
First responder is a great course, however if you want to be a firefighter, as soon as youre 18 consider taking the EMT-B course it goes into greater detail and will give you more marketable skills and knowledge. The class will also help you decide if the career path is right for you. Also for outdoor skills the course will give you excellent backcountry skills. To answer your question straight-up though, no its not a hard course, if you pay your fee you will pass.
PS The EMT-B class should be available through the same local comm college and should include CPR as well
